A kiss is so easy to give, but means so much when received.
Love is something you usually don’t have to remind
yourself to do or to give away. It’s easy; it’s
natural. Same as a kiss; it’s spontaneous and in some
circumstances it’s even combustible. And just about
always, it’s very tasty and sweet.
A "Jonda Kiss" is no
different. I, Jonda, have spent years traveling the world
entertaining and singing in projects on my own and, most recently,
with my band, Mink.
While entertaining the American troops overseas, my travels
took me many places including Turkey, Greece, Italy and Spain
(just to name a few). In fact, my band was the first ever
to go into Afghanistan and Pakistan in March 2002.
With every autograph there has always been a kiss, whether
on the album, BDU’s, the cheek or any other various
body part that presented itself. And more often than not,
body parts were presented for kissing! On one occasion, in
5 weeks of touring, I went through 5 tubes of lipstick. (Try
finding this color red in a store in Qatar!!) It has often
been said that you could trace a path where I have been, just
“follow the lips.”
In 2003 there were 2 very special girlies in my life who
told me while I was away they missed my kisses. So I came
up with the most wonderful Valentines' Day present - a bracelet
(sterling silver and leather). With my own lips engraved on
the silver piece, like a watch, it faced so they could give
themselves a kiss, from me, while I was away, simply by raising
their wrist to the cheek. After this Valentines' day gift
went awry, I was left with a broken heart and two bracelets,
each engraved on the back with a phrase for 4, 3+1=4.
3 words (I love you), 1 meaning (love) = 4-ever.
I decided I would wear them in remembrance (and, well, because
I paid so much to have them custom made!) These bracelets
are now aptly named "The
Original."
As I wore them around, people commented about them, so I
told them they story of why they were made - “So they
could get a kiss from me when I wasn't around."
Inquiries were made as to how others might get a “Jonda
Kiss.” Thus it began.
Using the same original "Jonda Kiss" stencil, each new piece
is hand engraved with a kiss. I engrave each sterling silver
piece, then design and assemble each bracelet,
necklace, etc. Each piece is crafted with love and care. They make
wonderful gifts for yourself or for your loved ones. Whether
it's through my music or through my jewelry, I'm going to
kiss the world one piece at a time.
